The essence of Aikido and its origins

This Japanese martial art originated in the 1920s, under the impetus of Morihei Ueshiba O sensei. Its philosophy is based on the ability to understand one’s own body and that of one’s opponent. You use his strength and boldness to your advantage.

What are the advantages of this martial art?
Aikido enables you to remain calm and cool-headed in all circumstances. It’s a form of self-defence based on speed and flexibility. It helps you to release tension and stress and to develop great powers of concentration. Its watchwords: harmony, energy and perspective.
Aikido equipment at the best value for money
Would you like to get started? The aikidoka must have adequate equipment. The outfit consists of a white jacket and pants of the same color(aikidogi). As your training progresses, you’ll also be able to wear the hakama. This particular garment takes the form of floating pants in dark blue or black.

As for the shoes… there aren’t any! In fact, aikido is practised barefoot. We do recommend wearing sandals (zoris) when walking through the dojo. You’ll also find a wide range of weapons in our online store. Wooden sticks, swords and knives are often used during training sessions.
