What is an aikido hakama?
The aikido hakama offers great freedom of movement. It comes in the form of wide pleated pants, in blue or black. In medieval times, it was worn by noblemen and samurai. Nowadays, it’s a must-have for every aikidoka.

The hakama can be worn after a few years of assiduous practice, once the student has reached a certain level of experience and technical skill. In concrete terms, it is often accessible after 3 or 5 years, from the 3rd or 1st kyu.
