Tozando has created a new kind of aikido gi using an innovative fiber called Unitika Pulper, combining the strengths of polyester and cotton. The fabric is treated with a plant called Yomogi or Japanese mugwort (Artememisia princeps) known for its antibacterial and anti-odour effects.
This aikido gi is traditionally made by Tozando tailors in Iwate, Japan.
This aikidogi with reinforced collar and shoulders is made in the traditional way. The tough, heavy-duty fabric is thin, light and flexible enough to keep you comfortable in the hottest months of the year.
Unitika Pulper fiber is composed of 60% cotton and 40% polyester. The softness and moisture-absorbing properties of cotton are combined with the strength and quick-drying properties of polyester. Thanks to the Yomogi process, this aikidogi has gained natural protection against bacteria and odors without losing its softness and comfort on the skin.
