This is a high-quality kimono and pant set, traditionally made for aikido.
The aikidogi top is traditionally made with a single layer of medium-weight Sashiko weave on the top for durability and with rectangular patterns, Hishizashi, on the bottom for flexibility.
It is made to have a perfect balance between thickness and weight. What’s more, this feature means it can be used all year round.
Sashiko fabric is woven in Japan to a high standard of appearance and quality.
We’ve made the back of the kimono seamless, so you won’t feel sore or uncomfortable when you fall on your back during Ukemi.
The pants are made of thick, durable cotton canvas, lined at the front and lower thigh to reinforce the pants for the kneeling position.
The other parts of the pants are made from a simple fabric that dries quickly and is more comfortable to wear.
The pants are tight and supported at the hips with drawstrings.
Unlike many “aikido kimonos” sold by other brands, which sell judo uniforms as “aikido uniforms”, Tozando aikido kimonos and pants are specially made for aikido.
For example, our aikido kimono has a deeper cut in the armpit to provide a better fit and prevent the kimono from losing its shape when worn. What’s more, without the seams on the back, you won’t be in pain when you fall out of the Ukemi.
The pants are made to be strong and easy to move, keeping in mind that both kimono and pants can endure the unique movements of aikido practitioners.
